As the Executive Director of the Minneapolis Parks Foundation, Tom led a successful $18 million capital campaign resulting in the creation of two new signature parks on the city’s riverfront, including Water Works Park, located in the center of the downtown riverfront district, which has become a catalyst for amplifying the region’s indigenous histories, cultures, and languages. In his tenure, he raised more than $30 million for parks and programs in Minneapolis.
Prior to his roles as an executive director, Tom guided philanthropy and marketing for the Trust for Public Land Midwest Region, served as a Vermont State Park Ranger, and as a crew leader for the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps. Tom earned a Masters of Public Affairs from the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School and is actively involved in the national Percent for Place coalition. Tom lives in Minneapolis, one of the best cities in America for philanthropy and parks.
