The Joe & Diana Carter Foundation sHow we got started
Diana and Joe Carter have always been passionate about helping others grow and achieve their dreams. This cause is very near and dear to their hearts. Joe and Diana have experienced firsthand how believing in yourself, taking risks and seeking one’s full potential to do what you love can positively impact and fulfill your life’s endeavors.
Joe’s journey in life, living his passion, began as a young boy, confident to stand up and declare before a room full of baseball hopefuls that one day HE would be the ONE to beat the odds and become a Major League Baseball (MLB) player. Fast forward 15 years later, and Joe was exactly where he said he’d be – beginning a successful 16-year career as a professional baseball player. He achieved two World Series’ championships and several individual achievement awards as the results for choosing work he loves.
Diana met Joe at Wichita State University, where her dream was to be a counselor and advocate for inner city troubled youth to help them envision their full potential, become the best they could be and seek their dreams. She engaged and inspired their three children to pursue a career that would make them fulfilled and happy – frequently reminding them that less than 2% of people love their job. In 1995, Diana won the Kansas City Home and Gardens magazine’s ‘Home of the Year’ Award for her unique and beautifully designed house for the family home. During that celebration, she truly recognized her talent and passion for interior design. And, although all three of their children were still in elementary and high school, Diana practiced what she preached and enrolled and began her second round back to college to become an interior designer. Today, Diana owns her interior design company, di’s DESIGN.
Based on the Carter’s personal experiences, Diana and Joe sought to establish a Foundation unlike any other—one that would allow them to assist and empower others of all backgrounds to develop and sustain a level of confidence that will promote their endeavors to find and pursue their self-fulfilled passion. In 1996 the Joe & Diana Carter Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization was created. With their collective and woven compassion and love for helping others and Diana’s creative artistry of interior design, the Carter foundation is a perfect establishment for them to expose their gifts to the community through a variety of empowering, inspirational and motivating affairs.eeks to inspire the youth and adults in surrounding Kansas City communities to make positive life choices and chase their dreams. The Foundation hosts events that expose these special populations to strong role models to motivate, mentor and empower them to have the necessary tools to attain their life dream and passion. Over the past 16 years, the Joe & Diana Carter Foundation has successfully made a positive contribution and impact on hundreds of youth and adults throughout Kansas and Canada.
