Youth service organization uses strategy to improve public relations
Challenge
After a public relations meltdown, an at-risk youth service organization needed to reconnect with past funders and more importantly, reach out to new prospects.
Methods
Access Philanthropy created a comprehensive communications strategy that would help the organization receive the funding they needed. We crafted messages for the client to use when talking to current and past funders, and when working with community thought leaders. We identified several new prospective institutional donors. We also rewrote proposal templates to respond to public concerns about the client.
Results
Eighteen months after the meltdown, the client had raised more institutional funding than it ever had previously. After two years, the organization had lost only two funders from the public relations fiasco, and gained nine new funders.
